CEP Spotlights Extremism and Counter-Extremism from Albania to Yemen

(New York, NY) — The Counter Extremism Project (CEP) today released 10 new reports on extremism and counter-extremism efforts, expanding to 38 the number of countries profiled in conjunction with an interactive map tool that pinpoints the geographic scope and impact of extremist and terrorist groups.

New countries profiled include Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Indonesia, Italy, Myanmar/Burma, Qatar, Thailand, and Yemen. Each report includes descriptions of extremist and terrorist movements, the phenomena of radicalization and foreign fighters, and domestic and international counter-extremism initiatives.

CEP’s map also features reports on major extremist and terrorist groups operating around the globe—groups like al-Qaeda, ISIS, Boko Haram, Hezbollah, Houthis, and the Taliban. CEP is committed to developing a best-in-class resource for information on extremist groups, where they operate, their leaders, and their social and financial networks, to improve the understanding of the complex, global, and urgent challenge of combating extremism.
